"Versification" is a dark, uncomfortable record, but it reflects my state of mind at the time. Feeling the stresses of doctoral studies, my studio and my drumming became a release for that tension. Harmonically, this record is very angular and dissonant. Rhythmically, tracks like "Da Combo" and "Bop Storm"represent a return to a more linear style of drumming, although in many of the tracks, I still explore fragmented, broken rhythms across multiple drums. The basic drums were recorded at Verdant Studio in Vermont. Pete Weiss gave those tracks more Neve mojo - he's the best!
