Verdant Studio Pics

Here are some pictures from the session at Verdant Studios in VT from June 2010. Pete Weiss has a great room up there and his recording philosophy completely matches what I am trying to achieve with the drum tracks for my next release - simplicity is best!

Ron Ingalla's review of Feel

Here is Ron Ingalla’s review of Feel.
“A bombastic collage of throbbing soliloquy! With incredible momentum Todd Campbell lays out an incredible world full of the fire and energy of creation. Working from beat to beat with seamless transitions, the artists develops and improvises masterfully under a iced-cooly persona. The likes of Art Blakey, Mitch Mitchell, and other great drummers, Campbell unifies listeners under a flag of a revolutionary and experimental sound.
Tr. 1 "Sub-Revolution (always compromised)" – An incredible opener with bombastic flair and subtly surprising transitions. The mastery of high to low, fast to slow are experienced fully in this track.
Tr. 4 "Fetish a Go-Go" – Funky bebop and flaring tempo, this hot groove is bound to hook any listener ball and chain. Complex polyrhythm melts into the track halfway in with crashing cymbal work masterfully executed. Makes you want to look but not touch.
Tr. 9 "Rubber-Earth Reality" – An earthy hue of ground work. From roots to tip this track is where it's at—full capacity."

Pre-production! A long, interesting and scary process. There’s nothing quite stranger that beginning a project - the feeling of a blank sonic canvas - some ideas are in place but many are not. It’s just a question of learning to be ok with that.
