Acoustic Drums and Cymbals

• My primary kit is a custom built kit by Gary Folchi of Precision Drums. The drum sizes on the Precision kit are 8x8, 8x10, 10x12, 12x14, and 14x18. All shells are 8 ply Keller maple, and the kit is finished in a Marmalade Satin Flame wrap. The other kit pictured here is a 1990 Pearl BLX. It is a slamming, booming, tonal kit and I pull it out when it is time to rock! Also, it is the only BLX kit from that era that I have ever seen finished in #109 Coral Red.
• Snare drums I'll use include a Pearl 5.5x14 Master's Shop Birch, a 3x13 Pearl Brass Piccolo, or a 5.5x14 Leedy and Ludwig. Currently, all toms are outfitted with Remo Coated Ambassadors on top and Evans resonant heads on the bottom. Snare drums have Evans G2 on top and Evans resonant snare head on the bottom. Bass drums are usually fitted with a Remo Pinstripe Batter and an Evans Resonant head. All drums are usually tuned right where they "sit" the best. And remember kids, muffling a drum is evil, but a little Moongel can be your friend.
• Regarding cymbals, there are too many to list here. Common cymbals I'll put up from gig to gig include a K Custom ride, a "Beautiful Baby" ride, an Istanbul Mehmet crash and crash-ride, Sabian AA thin crashes, and a Zildjian China low-boy. Hi-hats include 14" A Custom and 13" Quick Beats.
